Raymond Briant est un syndicaliste CFDT d'Indret. Retraité, il se consacre tout entier à sa passion : la poésie et l'histoire locale. Il est l'auteur d'une volumineuse et intéressante histoire de Couëron. Il est décédé en mai 2017. Ses archives furent déposées au Centre en 1983. Un second dépôt est intervenu en 1995.

DESCRIPTIF
Ce fonds est composé de 28 boîtes contenant plusieurs séries de documents dont :
- une collection des Cahiers du travail de l'Institut de Culture Ouvrière (1946-1950).
- de nombreux tracts, documents et journaux internes de la CFTC puis de la CFDT Indret et Loire-Atlantique (notamment Nouvelles CRTC, Nouvelles CFDT et Union-Atlantique).
- de nombreuses publications CFDT, classées chronologiquement (et assez complètes), notamment La Vie Syndicale, Syndicalisme CFDT, Le Retraité Militant.
Ont été microfichés :
- des collections incomplètes de revues poétiques : Faubourgs, Peuple et poésie, Le musée du soir.
- des journaux syndicaux CFTC puis CFDT d'Indret: l'Equipe (1941) et La vie Syndicale (1963-1969).
- un très intéressant statut du personnel ouvrier de l'arsenal de Saïgon (1941).
